Friedrich
What brought you to t-recs?
In my case, the question is rather who brought who? t-recs was originally a GbR, and later I made myself CEO of the GmbH ;)
What are you responsible for at t-recs?
As the CEO, I’m responsible for company administration. However, I’m always happy also to work on concrete projects, usually as project manager for voice recordings. I’m also a passionate Filemaker programmer, and I look after the specially developed applications that support us in organizing and optimizing our data, finances, and workflows.
How would you describe your work style?
I would describe it as planned, pragmatic, and solution oriented.
Do you have any hobbies that influence your work at t-recs?
It was my interest in technology and music that led me to become an audio and video engineer, which was the starting point of my journey to t-recs. Music then became my main hobby, which is definitely helpful for my work on audio projects. I also have a fondness for strategy and building games.
What do you particularly like at t-recs?
Unequivocally, the teamwork, our solution and quality-oriented approach, and the collegial and personal environment. I’m grateful to have found a team that I can rely on 110%.

JULIA
What brought you to t-recs?
My first contact with the company was as part of a project that I was working on at Duisburg-Essen University in 2011.
What are you responsible for at t-recs?
I am a project manager here and responsible for managing the completion of translation and audio projects from quote creation to delivery. I am, so to speak, the interface between all those involved, ensuring optimal workflows and conditions, and coordinating the different stages of completion.
How would you describe your work style?
I would describe my work style as analytical, systematic, and communicative. I have a structured and anticipatory approach and complete everything with the greatest care, attentiveness, commitment, and love for detail. I have a talent for multitasking, I am always focused, and I always maintain the overview.
Do you have any hobbies that influence your work at t-recs?
I’m a passionate gamer with a preference for action adventure and survival horror.
What do you particularly like at t-recs?
It’s simply great to be a part of such a wonderful team. Particularly in times of stress, it’s so important to have colleagues who you can rely on 100% for mutual support.

MICHAEL
What brought you to t-recs?
I know Jeremiah from before he, Friedrich, and Silke started t-recs. I didn't do much work for the company at the beginning, but this has grown over the years.
What are you responsible for at t-recs?
I am a freelance translator, but I work here in the office in Düsseldorf a few days a week as a quasi in-house translator along with Maren.
How would you describe your work style?
I work highly focused on the task at hand. Sometimes this is a disadvantage when there is a lot going on, but it also allows me to filter out distractions.
Do you have any hobbies that influence your work at t-recs?
I like to taunt certain other t-recs team members (who will remain unnamed) with my status as a casual gamer. I'm also developing my own small game with a friend in my spare time. It should be ready in about ten years. My general interest in the media and technology landscape is also useful.
What do you particularly like at t-recs?
The t-recs team, including the many freelance translators. It's important for me to like and respect the people I work with and I'm lucky to have that here at t-recs.
MAREN
What brought you to t-recs?
A friend recommended me to Friedrich at the end of 2011, and he surprised me by calling right away. I completed my first small translations at the start of 2012 and in spring of the same year I began working as a freelance project manager for t-recs.
What are you responsible for at t-recs?
Project management, translations and proofreading (EN>DE, DE>EN), LQAs.
How would you describe your work style?
For creative jobs, I’m a text-book procrastinator. 10 k words in two weeks? That wouldn’t be a challenge ... so it usually ends with me starting to work on them two or three days before the deadline. When working creatively, I do so best under pressure.
It’s different for project management. There I don’t put anything off. Instead, I want to have everything under control. I optimize my workflows and keep a close eye on the entire process (occasionally too much so).
Do you have any hobbies that influence your work at t-recs?
Yes I do. I’ve been a gamer for almost three decades and enjoy a whole range of genres. I also read a lot and watch many different TV series, which helps me keep up to date on language trends (particularly in English).
What do you particularly like at t-recs?
There’s much, but if I had to encapsulate it in a couple of words, it would be company philosophy. By this I mean the familial atmosphere (you not only always feel like an important part of the team, but also for decisions regarding the processes you are involved in), the support and understanding, the focus on good communication in all areas, quality demands ... I could go on for much longer.
My favorite lunch is ...
Lunch? What is that? ;)
I don’t eat at a certain time, but when I do eat, it’s a meal of home-made bread, cheese and a selection of raw vegetables.
JÖRG
What brought you to t-recs?
I knew someone who knew someone ... Like it so often is in the industry.
What are you responsible for at t-recs?
I coordinate translations.
How would you describe your work style?
The word “dead” in “deadline” is the one that counts – as in deadly serious. Apart from that, it ranges between a relaxed “tomorrow is fine ...” attitude to one of a bean-counting Prussian staff-sergeant. (Friedrich already used the word “pragmatic” …)
Do you have any hobbies that influence your work at t-recs?
Rescuing rare realms by merry monster maiming, sly ship sinking, or other vile virtual variations since 1982. Usually not in my native language. Same goes for my DD collection and 50% of my bookshelf.
What do you particularly like at t-recs?
The importance that’s placed on quality and the excellent team spirit: perfect ingredients for working.
My favorite lunch is ...
Sauerkraut with Kassler, Saba Nigiri, Rhenish Sauerbraten, Tom Kha Gai, lentil soup, truite au blue (Blue Trout), Wakame, dürüm doner, lamb’s lettuce, larded saddle of hare prepared in a clay pot, rocket salad, … ummm … How much space do I have???
PETER
What brought you to t-recs?
The sign on the door – just by chance, but a happy one – when I was visiting friends next door.
What are you responsible for at t-recs?
As a freelance copywriter, I’m happy that t-recs’ translation and audio projects involve a lot of copy work. I’m also happy that Friedrich has come to need my help more and more with projects.
How would you describe your work style?
Diligent...ly respectful of approaching, be-all-and-end-all deadlines. ;-) I try to work in a way that makes everyone involved happy.
Do you have any hobbies that influence your work at t-recs?
Sure, I grew up playing video games and continue to try and convince everyone that an Atari is the best thing in the world – even if current consoles consume most of my gaming time.
What do you particularly like at t-recs?
It’s a super team with an awesome atmosphere – even if we generally communicate via Skype and email and don’t actually inhabit the same room. And that even my dumbest questions are answered very patiently. :-)
My favorite lunch is ...
Phew, I don’t really eat at regular times, but when there’s time and when I’m in the right place at the right time, then whatever delicious concoction Friedrich has cooked. ;-)
COMPANY HISTORY
The two friends Silke Hermanni and Friedrich Klemme worked together
at a localization company for many years. In 2008, they decided to put the
experience they had gained into their own company and to add additional
audio services for voice recordings. Due to the audio and administrative
expertise of video and sound engineer Friedrich Klemme, extending the
portfolio in this way was a natural choice.
The third member to join was the U.S. American voice artist and director
Jeremiah Costello, who was a natural choice of partner after working on
numerous projects together. With the three founding members together,
the company’s core fields were formed.
Project management, translation, game localization, and audio services for
voice recordings.
With Jeremiah, a further studio was now available in Hamburg, alongside
the main office in Neuss (today Düsseldorf).
This provided a larger pool of English native speakers to draw from and to fill a market gap: professional English and German voice recordings from a single source.
It was from these beginnings that t-recs studios GmbH continually developed
into the company it is today ...

Official incorporation of Native Prime S.A.S. as international expansion. With a 25% share, t-recs joins the international company headquartered in France.
